A common question for our advisors in showroom wedding gift list appointments is “What size Le Creuset casserole dish should we get?”. So, we’ve pulled together a handy guide to help you to choose the right sizes of pot and design of Le Creuset casserole dish for you. (If you're reading this and already have one and don't know what Le Creuset size you have, there will be a number in the lid.)
Round Casserole
The classic casserole iron cast from Le Creuset is a diverse essential for the kitchen and We couldn't recommend them highly enough. Plus their casserole pots are versatile and compatible with all heat sources, including gas, induction, solid hotplate, ceramic, halogen, and solid fuel.
One of our absolute Le Creuset favourites, we reach for our round casserole dishes on repeat. They are the best of cookware and bakeware, perfect for cooking an array of recipes. They are renowned for one-pot dishes like soups, stews, casseroles slow-cooked meat dishes, and even baked breads. Head to the Le Creuset Recipe section for some ideas.
BROWSE BY SIZE
Our recommendation for sizes of this iconic casserole dish depends on how you intend to use them. Most couples who added Le Creuset to their wedding gift list love to use their pots for batch cooking - either for a big dinner party or for multiple meals to last the week. If this is you, we would recommend any pot size from 24cm upwards (24cm, 26cm, 28cm, and 30cm). If you're looking to cook smaller amounts, or side dishes where portions may be smaller, then 18cm, 22cm, or 24cm Le Creuset casserole size would be advisable.
If you're considering more than one casserole dish for your wedding list, but you're worried about storing them, Le Creuset round casseroles are ideal for stacking. Simply flip the lids to stack on top of each other. (The lids can also be used as a perfect pizza base when cooking pizzas in the oven.)
Shallow Casserole
The flat shape of the shallow sides makes these casserole dishes perfect for browning meat and vegetables, simmering casseroles, stir fry, sweet or savory pies, and our favourite, risottos. This shape is available in two sizes: 26cm and 30cm. The 26cm serves around two to four people and can hold 2 litres, while the 30cm shallow casserole serves around four to six people and can hold 3.2 litres.
Oval Casserole
As versatile as the round casserole, the Le Creuset oval casserole is perfect for longer cuts of meat. Large enough to roast a whole leg of lamb and narrow enough to leave extra space in the oven for the trimmings. Try a whole chicken, or a joint of pork, lamb, or beef.
Le Creuset oval casserole pots are available in 4 sizes: 25cm, 27cm, 29cm, and 31cm. For those who like to cook large meals for big groups, we recommend considering 29cm and 31cm.

ADVICE FROM OUR WEDDING LIST ADVISORS
Our Wedding List Advisor Lucy recommends adding a 27cm oval casserole - it is big enough to fit and roast a whole chicken, but also a decent size to do a big curry or casserole for a dinner party of up to 8/10 guests. Lucy would also suggest to couples to get a smaller 22cm round casserole for day-to-day use if you are just cooking for the two of you.
According to our Wedding List Advisor, Gemma, the 28cm/30cm are great options for your wedding gift list if you cook for larger groups regularly, but it is also worth taking into account that they are heavy especially when full.
