The Highlight Of Your Experience With The Wedding Present Company

From start to finish, the service at The Wedding Present Company was completely flawless. We loved browsing around the showroom, imagining our future married life. Everyone on the Wedding Present Company team went above and beyond to help us make the right choices about our wedding gift list.

Why Did You Choose The Wedding Present Company For Your Wedding List?

We had heard so many great things about The Wedding Present Company from friends, and they also partnered with brands that felt suited to our home and style. Truthfully, everything available with The Wedding Present Company felt such good quality; it was really important to us to add to our gift list wedding presents we felt we could cherish forever.

Your Wedding Present Delivery Day

Yes, we have had all our wedding presents delivered. It was so much fun! We set about organising a dinner party the next weekend to play with all our new tableware. Unwrapping each wedding gift and remembering who bought it for us was so special.

What Were Your Favourite Brands Available Within The Wedding Present Company?

When it came to creating the wedding registry, I think we were definitely drawn to the smaller brands. I was quite surprised to see so many small, independent brands on the website. We loved bits from Amuse La Bouche and Candle Flair. It was great to see that The Wedding Present Company champions these unique brands.

Engagement Story

Back then, we were in the middle of sprucing up our house. Picture this: cramped up in one tiny room, using a makeshift kitchen, and getting creative with outdoor "bucket" showers. Let's just say that romance wasn't exactly in the air. So what went down next totally blindsided me.

I walked in after a sweaty, dusty day at work, and I couldn't help but notice vases of flowers strategically placed all around the construction zone. As I ventured into the main room, there it was: Andy had turned the place into a floral wonderland, complete with twinkling lights and a sign that said, "You're the bricks to my mortar." Shock doesn't even begin to cover it—I was so stunned I couldn't even get a single word out. Eventually, I squeaked out a YES.

An hour later, we were at our favourite rooftop bar, surrounded by our nearest and dearest. Talk about a whirlwind of a day!

THEME/INSPIRATION FOR YOUR WEDDING

Two things were important when thinking about our theme: as long as many things were pink and red and everyone felt relaxed (us included), then we knew we had nailed our day. I have always had a really strong love for pink and red as a colour combination, and I knew that having it subtly running through our day would bring me so much joy.

How Did You Find Your Key Suppliers, And Why Did You Choose Them?

With experience in the wedding industry through her floral design studio, Lex had a significant advantage in reaching into her black book of suppliers to find reliable and trusted wedding partners.

Lex: I was able to choose suppliers who I had previously worked with and really trusted. Every single one of our suppliers went above and beyond for us, especially the girls at Doggart & Squash. People still mention how good the food was!

Our venues couldn’t have been more perfect. Since I'm in the wedding industry, I didn't want to choose a venue where I'd worked before. This was a bit of a pickle, considering I'd covered most of the wedding venues in London.

One day, we're out for a walk and stumble upon this gorgeous Myatts Field Park. I turned to Andy and blurted, "Imagine us getting married on that bandstand!" And guess what? They hosted weddings there! It was like the universe aligned—the ideal spot for our big day.

Our wedding party evening venue was another stroke of luck. We stumbled upon this awesome independent venue, Whirled Cinema, just a short walk from the park. I have to give credit to Google for coming in clutch; it really does have its moments!

Wedding Décor

Being a florist myself, I was keen to create the floral décor and style our wedding myself. It was so fun to create something that I loved rather than what a client wanted.

I used seasonal wedding flowers and kept my floral décor very simple. Hydrangeas for our wedding ceremony, and Dahlias for the reception only. Both are my two favourite September flowers, so why not just have lots of them?

For our wedding reception, we had a mismatch of gingham and striped tablecloths. Before our wedding, we had collected hundreds of different candlesticks and vases. We wanted dinner to feel informal and intimate, like you had popped over to our garden in South London for dinner. Our beautiful, bespoke Maple & Rae wedding stationery, matched with bright pink and red Candle Flair candles, really made all the difference to the wedding tables.

Wedding Flowers

Wedding Bouquet White Flowers

Owning a flower company put a lot of pressure on deciding what flowers we wanted for such a special day. In the end, we decided to keep things simple and go for a bridal bouquet and decor with seasonal flowers grown in the UK. Our wedding ceremony was filled with hydrangeas, forming fluffy cloud shapes, and for the breakfast reception, we used red and pink dahlias. You can’t get more seasonal floral arrangements than this, really, and in the end, that is what mattered to us.

My amazing bridal party wore bright pink suits that were paired with single-stem white wedding bouquets of their favourite flowers. It felt simple, easy, and relaxed.

Bridal Fashion

I wore a Gabija dress from Jurgita Bridal that was pure magic. I wanted my wedding dress to have an easy-breezy vibe, and this dress had a playful, loose feel that I was going for. Plus, the floral pattern on it was like a subtle ode to flowers, which felt perfect given my love for florals. I kept the wedding accessories minimal since the dress itself had a stunning floral pattern going on.

Groom's Fashion

Andy nailed his groom’s outfit—a laid-back yet stylish linen suit that was all about easy elegance. And the pièce de résistance? His signature shoe, the Boston Birkenstock.

Wedding Hair & Make-Up

The hairstylists from Portrait Bridal pinned and delicately woven pearls into my hair, which, I think, added a touch of elegance. Their magic worked wonders and filled me with so much confidence.

Bridesmaids, Flower Girls & Page Boys

My fabulous bride tribe owned the show in their bold, mismatched pink bridesmaid suits. They added their personal flair through unique accessories that perfectly matched their individual styles.

My beautiful flower girls and page boys wore white linen matched with white flowers—sometimes you just can't go wrong with tradition.

Wedding Catering

Wedding Catering Food
Wedding Floral Cake Red and Pink

Our food was incredible and made by the amazing team at Doggart & Squash. For a starter, we had panzanella, followed by a main course: roasted seabass with samphire, hazelnut, and Thyme Beurre Noisette Sauce.

Our wedding cake was made by Hannah Bakes Cake, and it was chocolate and spiced mascarpone icing paired with summer berries.

Wedding Wine & Drinks

For our wedding drinks reception, we had a beautiful pink (of course) sparkling Bouvet Ladubay Saumur Rosé Brut. It tasted fantastic, and we served it in vintage coupes.

We also served negronis and non-alcoholic cocktails throughout the day. As well as lots of Provence rosé and great white wine.

Wedding Music

Our first dance was to Reet Petite from the Hootenanny 2010.

We then had an amazing jazz band for our evening party in the cinema. The set flowed seamlessly from Rat Pack and Jive classics; it was perfect. Everyone was up on the dance floor, having the time of their lives. It was such a nice change from the more traditional wedding band.

Standout Moments

Having postponed our wedding many times, we didn’t think we would ever make it, but we did! The whole day was magical, from the sun that shone on a full-rain forecasted day and the butterfly who landed and stayed on Andy’s shoulder for the whole ceremony to the wedding speeches that had the whole wedding in tears and the crazy dancing to jazz classics in a rundown railway arch in Loughborough Junction.
